  • I am too ashamed to talk about my Urology surgery but I wanted to go public about how wonderful my results turned out to be. Your staff really helped make a private matter very private.  Thanks

Male Facial Surgery

In the planning stages of your facial or neck surgery, your BHMG Board Certified surgeon will first evaluate your entire head-face-neck region. Factors such as position of the hairline, sideburns, beard growth, sun damage, neck skin laxity, and existing facial scars, will be taken into account. Generally speaking, male facial skin has a richer blood supply than female facial skin. Due to this, men have a somewhat greater risk for forming hematoma (a small collection of blood under the skin) after surgery. The incisions may also be more difficult for men to hide since men usually don’t wear make-up or style their hair toward their faces as many women do.

Hair growth and beard growth can also play a major role in the outcome of a Facelift. For those with balding or have thinning hair, surgical artistry may be required to hide the Facelift incision especially in the temple area. If the hair-bearing skin on the upper neck is pulled behind the ears during surgery, you may find that you must shave behind the ears or the back of the neck. However, electrolysis or some of the newer hair-removal procedures can correct this problem. Be sure to discuss these possibilities with your surgeon during your consultation.

Another concern for men is having a fatty or "jowly" area beneath the chin. For younger patients, Liposuction alone may be sufficient to correct this problem. However, older patients may require a full Facelift and Neck Lift that may include the removal of excess skin and tightening the platysma muscles, which run down each side of the neck. While these muscles are usually thicker in men than they are in women, they do not pose a greater challenge.
