Inlays and onlays, or indirect fillings, are excellent ways of treating cavities and damaged or decayed teeth. Made of strong porcelain or metal, inlays and onlays are a longer-lasting alternative to traditional fillings. They are first shaped and molded to fit the teeth and then cemented into place. The inlay fits inside the cavity while the onlay rests on top of the tooth to provide durable and long-lasting results.
