The
Effect
Initially, BOTOX® or Botulinum toxins have been utilized to
treat neck spasms, eye spasms and cranial nerve disorders.
With the approval of the FDA, BOTOX® is now widely used for
cosmetic purposes in the glabellar region (a smooth
prominence on the frontal bone above the root of the nose)
to smoothen and even out wrinkles.
Sun exposure and expression lines are just some of the
factors that contribute to having fine lines and wrinkles.
Through BOTOX®, expression lines such as forehead lines and
frown lines are softened and most of the time erased with
treatment. Patients
who undergo this procedure will get a look that is wide
eyed, less angry, and well-rested.

The
Procedure
This procedure only takes a few minutes and anesthesia is
not necessary. As the BOTOX® is injected into the facial
muscles; it blocks the nerve impulses that cause temporary
paralysis of the muscles, hence smoothing out wrinkles. At
present, BOTOX ® is the only type of botulinum toxin that is
approved by the FDA to be used for cosmetic purposes in the
area of the glabella region.

Frequently Asked
Questions
Q: How
does BOTOX® reduce the signs of aging?
A:
BOTOX®
has been utilized for over 10 years in the treatment of
ophthalmological disorders. Now, it is being widely used
and the most chosen non-surgical procedure in reversing the
signs of aging. BOTOX®,
a purified form of botulinum toxin is injected in very small
amounts into the muscle being treated. This causes the
muscles to relax, hence, diminishing or even eliminating
fine lines or furrows.
Q: Is
BOTOX® treatment safe?
A:
BOTOX® treatment is safe. BOTOX® has been widely used for
over 10 years now in the treatment of ophthalmological and
neurological disorders.
Q:
What are the most common areas treated with BOTOX®?
A:
The most common areas treated with BOTOX®
are around the eye area, commonly known as crow’s feet, and
on the forehead area where frown lines appear. BOTOX® is
used in these areas in order to reduce or diminish fine
lines and furrows that are visible. BOTOX® may also be used
in the treatment of prominent neck bands or cords. Even
though BOTOX® is used mostly on the upper face area, great
results have also been achieved after treatment of the upper
lips, marionette lines (deep lines that form below the
corners of your mouth and run down onto the chin), and
rippling of the chin. BOTOX® injections are also widely
used and effective in the treatment of excess sweating of
the palms, soles and armpits.
Q: What
are the causes of frown lines and crow’s feet?
A:
Frown lines and crow’s feet are what doctors call “dynamic
wrinkles”. They are known as such due to the repetitive
movement of an underlying muscle. As you age, your skin
becomes less taut and repetitive movements such as squinting
or frowning leads to the skin being wrinkled and having
creases.
Q: How
soon after the treatment will I see results?
A:
Effects can be seen as soon as three to five days after
undergoing the treatment.
Q: How
long does BOTOX®
correction last?
A:
usually, BOTOX®
correction may last up to about four months. Results may
even last longer after repeated injections.
Q: How
do I know if I am a candidate for BOTOX®?
A:
Our staff will be more than willing to talk more about BOTOX
® treatments with you.
Q: Is
it okay to combine BOTOX® with other facial rejuvenation
procedures?
A:
Yes, in fact, BOTOX® is a suitable adjunctive treatment
to facial rejuvenation procedures such as laser skin
resurfacing, cosmetic fillers, ThermaLift non-surgical
facelift and laser skin rejuvenation.
